10 Years and Still Humbled

It was the weekend after 9/11 and there I was filming my first wedding. Like many others at that time I was living in an extremely depressed state of mind, as the world as I knew it would never be the same. Within minutes of filming a stranger’s wedding something unexpected and most wonderful was happening inside - I just had no idea how incredible this new beginning was. Now a decade later and so clear I would be remiss if I didn’t take the time to step back, soak it all in and thank all the wonderful clients who have trusted us with something as wonderful and important as their wedding and colleagues who have been a pleasure to work alongside. To celebrate this amazing milestone ten years later on that same week Jim, Dorian, Mike and I gathered to film three incredible weddings, cross train, collaborate and exchanged ideas for ways we can continue to establish amazing relationships with our clients and evolve as artists. With our busiest season yet and bookings well into 2013 we have experienced an increasing positive change in the value of a wedding film. Because our clients recognize the impact their film will have they include us early and often, working with them to plan for their BIG day.

After a decade has passed Boston Wedding Films remains an incredible gift for us that will continue to move and inspire us for years to come. Thank you for giving us new perspective.

The True Test of Marriage

And so the day had finally come. This was the true test where we would get to see if Kate, who when she was not dreaming of her own big day, lives vicariously through her clients working at the one and only Rentals Unlimited, helping other brides turn them into reality. We divided and conquered as I headed to Southie to hang with the guys to rough it up a bit while Dorian pampered himself with the ladies. While our experiences were worlds apart both shared a constant unified feeling of fun and celebration, setting an amazing tone for the day and leading me to believe that Kate may just pull it off. And pull it off she did! Kate and Brad spent the day and evening being themselves and soaking in every amazing moment celebrating with those nearest and dearest to them.

The Decision Maker

Meghan & Mike (Holy Cross Cathedral / Four Seasons Hotel)

Great decisions will define a marriage. In the case of Meghan & Mike, a question was asked by Phoebe, Meghan's friend and maid of honor. She made what she called "A Decision Maker", essentially a folded paper fortune teller. Four questions were posed for Meghan to choose: "Celebrating Mike", "Celebrating Meghan", "Celebrating Love", or "Celebrating Meghan & Mike". In wonderful playful style, Meghan made her decision and complimented the tone of the entire day. There was so much love and fun between this couple, and it became infectious. We just LOVE couples like Meghan and Mike, there is so much joy! So it was not a difficult decision at all for us to want to work with them to produce an amazing film of their day. And of course the best decision of all is the one made by Meghan and Mike to be married. Oh, and to find out what choice Meghan made for Phoebe's decision maker, just watch their highlight film below!

What a perfect way for Kate and Steve to begin their journey through life together.

Our Story
Noah and I met on JDate in March 2011. After we spoke on the phone for the first time, I called my mom immediately. I knew he was someone special! We had our first date the next night and the rest is a whirlwind. We got engaged in Napa two months later! Our wedding is in November of 2011 and we couldn't be more excited...

MFA
We had heard that the MFA started doing weddings and it was just the obvious choice. We love that the MFA is different and unique. We feel it goes perfectly with our love story. Plus, it can occupy the amount of people that we will be having.

Boston Wedding Films
The MFA sent us a video of the 1st (and only) wedding that they did. We were blown away. The video was amazing and it was like watching a great movie. The day after seeing that video we called and booked Boston Wedding Films for our wedding. We can't wait to have them capture our special day!

A BWF Engagement Announcement: Alyssa & Lyle September 10th 2011

What came first the Chicken or the Ring?

We always love to know how our couples pop the big question and just had to share this incredible story with you from Alyssa:

I work at marlo marketing/communications, a public relations/marketing agency in Boston and we have a daily blog called, m.blog. Each week, all of the employees write a blog post. The engagement chicken is a recipe that Glamour magazine published in 2004. A few Glamour staffers made it for their boyfriends and soon after got engaged. I was introduced to the engagement chicken in 2005. My 3 best friends from high school (who are now my bridesmaids) used to have dinner parties when we were home in Cheshire, CT from college. My friend, Katie-Lyn made the chicken for us girls and told us about the legend. We all laughed, totally not in the state of marriage at age 20 and it became an inside joke within our group. Anytime one of us was dating someone, we’d say “Are you going to make the engagement chicken?”. I had the recipe printed & saved in the back of my cookbook for years.

I finally made the chicken for Lyle in June 2010 and two days later, he proposed. I had absolutely no intention of it being a magical recipe or that it would lead to engagement, in fact, I told my girlfriends, “I’m going to make the engagement chicken this week” and they laughed along with me.

After I made the chicken and got engaged, I wrote a post on the engagement chicken. We utilize social media to promote the blog and tweeted the post at Glamour magazine. Within hours the magazine called me, asking me my story. Apparently they have a list of about 60 women who have made the chicken and gotten engaged soon after!

Additionally, the magazine was working on a feature for the February, 2011 issue of the magazine and needed real brides-to-be to model the new collection WHITE by Vera Wang. I was chosen along with three other brides and was flown to NYC. We did the shoot in November 2010 at Pier 59. Patrick Demarchelier was the photographer and Vera Wang and the Glamour fashion team styled us for the shoot. We had hair, make-up, nails done and were dressed from head to toe. It was amazing! I was in the land of Manolo Blahniks and amazing bridal accessories like feather hairpieces, gorgeous veils and lush bouquets.

Emily & Walter: A Boston Wedding Films Announcement

BWF Films their Nuptials at the B.P.L. March 31, 2012

Both Emily and Walter's families always placed a premium on education, granting them a love of learning and eventually leading them to each other.

Just one semester into law school, Emily attended her law school mentor’s engagement party. The mentor had just gotten engaged to a chemistry PhD student. Walking into the engagement party, Emily immediately noticed Walter from across the room. She had to talk to him. Emily had brought a bottle of champagne as a gift, so she walked straight over to Walter and asked him to help her open the bottle, sparking the introduction. Little did they know just how many reasons they had to celebrate that night. Days later, Walter crossed the finish line of the Boston Marathon, right outside the Boston Public Library. The Boston Public Library has played a prominent role in their lives ever since. This landmark will be the perfect place for them to make it official.

With my mother in Denver, I turned to the Boston Bridal Lounge to help me begin the planning process. They have been a wonderful resource for us as we plan our wedding, especially since they led us to Boston Wedding Films. We hadn’t planned on hiring a videographer, but once we viewed some of their films, we quickly changed our minds. Everyone from Boston Wedding Films is incredibly talented and passionate about their clients and their work. After meeting with them, it became obvious that they truly love what they do, which means the world when it comes down to something as important as our wedding.

We hired Boston Wedding Films second only to booking the B.P.L. We want our wedding to celebrate our life together, a life made possible by the incredible love and support of our families. Boston Wedding Films captures completely (and beautifully!) the emotion of the day - from the excitement of getting ready, to the emotional walk down the aisle, to the bittersweet father-daughter dance. Just as we love the idea of bringing our children to the B.P.L. to show them where mom and dad were married, we love the idea of showing our wedding video to the generations to come. BWF Films the First Wedding at the MFA

To say that Christine and Rob had a classy wedding would be a bit of an understatement. They chose the Museum of Fine Arts to celebrate their nuptials, one of the most regarded places in Boston to walk into, let alone get married in. And although the surrounding beauty of the MFA would surely stand on its own without any further enhancements, from the beginning they retained the incredible Tamar Salter-Frieze to make this incredible dream a reality. So many wonderful talents/artists worked under Tamar's direction to help transform classic beauty into jaw-dropping stunning surroundings including: High Output, Marc Hall Design and Table Toppers. And this was an historic occasion: this was the first wedding ever to be held at the MFA and we were so honored to be included in this momentous event!

Lizzie & Rhys: Crossing Two Ponds

BWF Films their Nantucket Nuptials September 2011

It was love at first call for us when an "unknown call" came in from Lizzie and Rhys from England, who wanted to learn more about our studio and our approach to making a wedding film. After a few moments chatting we soon found out just how small this world is. Lizzie went to high school with another one of our brides from last year and had also selected the same photographer she did, the amazing Joe Mikos (aka Brother Joe). Once we got sense of all their wonderful plans we asked them to back up to the most important part, how these two incredible people from other parts of the globe found each other.

Lizzie grew up in Connecticut and Rhys, who is Welsh, grew up in a small village in the north of England. Their story dates back to a boy growing up in Wales (Rhys' father) who as a kid used to run around playing American cowboys with his friends, and later in life, was brought by his family to a ranch in Arizona to fulfill the dream in celebration of a milestone birthday. The family had such a great time that they went back the following year. That's when Rhys met Lizzie, who had decided to take a once in a lifetime opportunity to take some time 'off the beaten track' and work as a Wrangler for a season. One day, after an early morning breakfast ride, Lizzie rode up to the corral, and there was Rhys standing in the shade of an Ironwood tree wearing a cowboy hat and boots. Marking the beginning of in incredible courtship that lasted five years, during which time Lizzie and Rhys flew back and forth across the Atlantic. Finally, in late summer 2009, a proposal at the seaside in Cornwall... and now most recently, Lizzie's move across the pond.

The family tradition of making dreams come true brings them across the pond once again to Nantucket Island to be married, making Lizzie's childhood dream of one day getting married at St Paul's Episcopal Church a reality for which we are honored to be a part of.

We know this is going to be the best weekend of our lives as we get to celebrate this special time with all of our family and friends - we want to remember every moment!! After speaking with you and seeing your work, it is clear that you have an incredibly talented team and really know how to capture people and the moments that are most important to them. We love your ability to tell a story through your work, and we hope that ours will be one we can share with our children and our children's children in such a way that they'll be able to know who we were 'back then' (!) and how crazy we were about each other. - TPG Videography retools and rebrands to become BOSTON WEDDING FILMS.
- After 7 plus years of working together Jim comes on board to join forces at BWF.
- Our blog is born.
- We said goodbye to the video camera and hello to the Canon DSRL and other new and exciting tools that allow for true event cinematography.
- We produced blogging the bride-a real life bridal experience at the InterContinental Hotel working alongside some of the industry icons and thought leaders.
- We attended a three day workshop in FL evolving our skills and broadening our vision for the possibilities in wedding film making.
- We met an incredible up-and-coming talent Dorian who becomes a dear friend and key member of our team.
- We are featured in several magazines and blog posts for our approach to wedding cinematography.
- And lastly it is with great excitement that Jim, Dorian & I officially welcome Mike to our BWF family. Mike is no stranger to weddings, photography or BWF. He has filmed over 150 weddings to date, is also a professional photographer and has been an integral part of our 2010 weddings. Mike looks forward to participating in our commitment to providing our clients with both an amazing film and experience.

Without a doubt 2010 has be our most momentous year to date. None of this would have been possible without the MANY amazing couples, parents, planners, photographers, florists, bands, and others who have trusted us with something as wonderful as their weddings.To all of you, we are humbled and forever grateful.

Hurricane Earl passed by leaving in its wake a true sense of serenity as we set foot upon this secluded island to celebrate this amazing moment in time. One that would last a lifetime. Nestled atop a breezy hillside, this beautiful ceremony was held overlooking the quiet harbor of Edgartown. It was here that Carly and Erik begin a new chapter in their lives. As Carly’s contagious laughter and smiles filled the air with Erik mirroring them it was apparent that these two were a perfect fit. Following the ceremony, our bride & groom boarded a private motor yacht where they escaped the crowds for a private moment to share their first glass of champagne together as husband and wife. A spectacular reception kicked off the night with their closest friends and family celebrating and dancing till dawn to the contagious and electrifying sounds of Wonder Bread 5.

Tanya, one must wonder how you found the time between all the planning to get any studying done. Vlad, you are an absolute gentleman and a very wise man we might add. You were so patiently silent letting your bride guide/drag you through all the meetings and decisions. But on the night of your wedding you shocked us all as you took charge and led that incredible dance. Truly an awesome moment and testament to your character!

For years I have always wanted to head to the grunge capital of the world to experience the ultimate caffeine high and now finally that day had come. After all, with a giant needle and rain for 24/7 what's not to love...

As the song in the teaser says, "Diana & Brett, they're gonna get married" and so we had to be there to experience this once in a lifetime event. Family and friends from all over the map came in to celebrate this amazing union. Diana the artist and Brett the comedian weaved in so many personal elements that expressed their personalities, character and many talents.

To Our Bride and Groom

It won’t be the incredible view from the Space Needle or the hordes of cheering fans at the salmon toss at Pike’s Market that have left the biggest mark on us. You have redefined the industry term "Real Weddings." Your vows were ones that would make anyone rethink and recommit their values in life. You truly know, understand, love and respect each other in the deepest yet simplest and most important ways. You make each other laugh – you made us laugh! Your wedding was a true testament to the people you are.

We have certainly filmed our fare share of weddings where the bride and groom get ready in the same place (usually separated by a an elevator ride) but never in the same home - on the same floor. The ladies had taken over the kitchen with man town only steps away down the hall. While the topic of conversation from room to room was far apart the spirit was perfectly in sync - calm and happy. No shocker there as that is how Sarah & Steve are. We would also throw in fun and that they really compliment, respect and just make sense together.

After the bridal prep and all the back and forth between rooms, Steve walked up, correction, he ran up the stairs leading from the beach to meet his bride. It was humbling to be there at such an incredible moment in time soaking it all in through the priceless expressions of Sarah's anticipation as she waited for her groom!

What a weekend! Aerosmith & J. Giles play Fenway, and two amazing BWF weddings in Chatham and not one shark bite. A BIG congrats to two of our couples who were both married in Chatham on Cape Cod!

Clare + Nate's Wedding Highlight Film

Clare's friend Amy summed it up best when she said, “Clare & Nate will use every opportunity to shake their tail feather every time one of their favorite songs starts playing". Their wedding was all about the fun factor. Talk about a couple with so much character, full of life and love. From the ceremony performed by Claire’s Uncle Charlie to the firework finale at Clare’s parents home overlooking the ocean there was no end to the personal touches.

While we could go on and on about the many things that moved us at their wedding we thought the lyrics to their entrance as husband and wife "Life Is A Highway” (performed Sterling Entertainment)” really summed it all up. It's funny, some songs you hear many times and although you like the tune, you sometimes don't really listen to the lyrics. Then when you hear the lyrics, it all makes more sense:

"There's a world outside every darkened door
Where blues won't haunt you anymore
For the brave are free and lovers soar
Come ride with me to the distant shore"

That's Clare and Nate. From their first meeting at a Halloween party where Nate, dressed as Spiderman impressing Clare with his character and wittiness, to this incredible moment on their wedding day where together they climbed the rocks overlooking the ocean to take it all in, Clare & Nate's love of life and for each other are so perfectly balanced.

We hope you enjoy your wedding film as much as we have getting to know you and being a part of your incredibly special day. Thank you for your continued trust and belief in us throughout this process. There is no doubt that your journey will be amazing and are so honored to have been a part of it. Talk about bragging rights, try graduating from Harvard, receiving your MD and MBA in the same day and then joining hands with the love of your life that weekend at The Harvard Memorial Church. The thing is Evan couldn’t be more humble. If you were to ask him about that weekend all he would tell you is how lucky and happy he is to have found and married Alexa.

While there were so many amazing aspects to this wedding, the most memorable was when Alexa and Evan met for their first reveal. It was such a moving experience to witness all the emotion and anticipation Evan felt locked up inside as he patiently awaited her arrival. With each step closer his emotions began to overflow, silencing all the passers by. Because of this we decided to use it as the anchor and theme for their highlight film. This is another of many reminders of how lucky we are to have this incredible responsibility and honor.

Alexa & Evan we are humbled by your modesty, values, generosity and welcoming nature. From the moment you came into our studio to your wedding day you put your absolute trust in us. “Start Spreading the News” Boston Wedding Films Heads to the Big Apple!

Thanks to the introduction from our friends at Pink Orchid Weddings, Angela & Jeff have hired us to film their nuptials this August at The Mandarin Oriental Hotel NYC. And while they may not be Red Sox fans Angela did spend some time at Wellesley College. We have shared several wonderful conversations together that have given us a wonderful perspective as to why this film is so important to them. We can’t wait to tell their story.

Some thoughts from our Bride:
“I did not know how difficult it would be to find a videographer until I started looking. Actually, the first thing I learned in this process is that I was actually looking for a cinematographer, not a videographer. There’s a difference! Unfortunately, because I assumed it would be easy, I saved it as one of my last wedding vendors to finalize and so I was both short on time and tight on budget. I found Boston Wedding Films featured in a blog post from Pink Orchid Weddings ~ wedding coordinators who I personally know to have impeccable taste and great style. Pink Orchid Weddings featured a movie trailer of Mark + Rhonda’s wedding and I was hooked! The trailer was only a minute long, but it captured the tone and the beauty of their event, it was simply wonderful. And then, of course, there’s Jason of BWF. He’s incredibly passionate about their clients and work, amazingly responsive and really just a lot of fun to talk to. Working with them has felt so natural. They really get it and the importance of all that goes into this one day. I have a feeling this is just the begging of a wonderful friendship.”

Cristina & Kevin: A Boston Wedding Films Announcement

Believe it or not these two love birds actually meet at at a karaoke night hosted by Cristina's friend's boyfriend. It turns out that a friend of the host who was in a wine tasting club had invited some of the wine crew to come out to karaoke night. Kevin was part of the “wine crew”, and though they met at karaoke, they had been in the same class for a few weeks already.Their nuptuals will be exchanged in the picture perfect setting amongst the lush grounds and cranberry bogs at Willowbend. We will have the pleasure of working with some of our good friends including Francie Dorman of Tangorra Weddings, photographer Eric Barry and florist Lilacs.

Some thoughts from our Bride:
"When do you have so many people close to you in one place at the same time? Never. I can’t think of anything more valuable than being able to re-live these moments over and over again for the rest of our lives. It will also be wonderful to have something to share with those who are not able to join us for this celebration. It is also note worthy to mention that we think Jason’s even more excited than we are about our wedding!"

Erin & Adam - A Boston Wedding Films Highlight Film from Boston Wedding Films.

Director's View
We love when couples get excited about their film amd Erin & Adam were no exception. They were ecstatic before we even took our cameras out (which we brought to document our first meeting together). Their vision for their wedding was clear and consisted of many creatively wonderful ideas.

Our couple resides in NYC and is no stranger to the theater and the big stage so we knew that their wedding was going to be amazing!

Was it because their wedding was going to be taking place in the "oldest continuously operating theater in New England"? Yes.

Was it because they had plans to surprise their guests by having the reception on stage? Yes.

Was it because Adam has a special interest in Batman? Well, yes. It was all these things, and so much more!

The Wedding Day
Their day began with preparations at the theater, then a stroll to the Boston Commons for some intimately creative moments. While Erin & Adam continued to prepare for the ceremony, their guests arrived to the theater walking down on the red carpet, the paparazzi flashing photos, complete with celebrity-style interviews and fanfare (a real Opening Night experience!). The ceremony took place in front of the main curtain scrim, while unknown to their guests behind the scenes the reception tables, ballroom chairs and decor were being set up waiting to wow them with their curtain call.

After the ceremony their guests settled in to the lobby for cocktail hour, then ushered back in for a thank you message and a BIG SURPRISE! Once seated in the theater waiting for the announcement the lights dimmed and the curtain rose to unveil Erin & Adam sharing their first dance. How dramatic! The guests were in awe of the magnitude of the incredible production. They didn't miss a detail including Adam's favorite, a Batman Signal glowing behind them.

To Our Couple
Erin & Adam thank you so much for sharing this day with us. You did it! You really pulled it off. Through working with you on your wedding we are certain you have what it takes. Your commitment, passion and creativity will provide each other with a lifetime of surprise, laughter and love.

The Director’s View
At Rachel & Bill’s wedding we were drawn into the down-home sweetness of their connection to each other. They are like the lyrics to a fine country music song.

Because our Bride & Groom are not originally from Boston, for many of their guests this was a true destination wedding. One of those very important guests included their longtime family friend and priest. Through his sermon it was obvious that he has been an important part of their lives and so deserving of performing this sacrament.

Special thanks to Cortney Gould who greeted us warmly at the Boston Harbor Hotel. We arrived “in style", filming the couple's limousine tour of the city which was a wonderful way to experience the ceremonial afterthoughts and will certainly make for some great “out takes”. We then joined their photographer, Glen Cooper of Decisive Moments Photo Journalists for the traditional harbor stroll. Rachel and Bill enjoyed each other’s company, doing what they naturally do: having fun and appreciating each moment of this incredible day. They are such a balanced couple who has figured out who they are both individually and collectively.

As their guests made their way into The Wharf Room they were surrounded by the breathtaking harbor views and elegant table-scape creations by Fino Fresh Floral Design. Once everyone was seated they were soon asked to rise again and join DJ Erik Buford of Event-Experience Music Services to welcome in our newlyweds for their first dance. As we expected, they started the night off with a country song (these two could make any non-country music lover a fan). There wasn’t a dry eye in the room.

The toasts were filled with love and humor, more evidence of who Rachel & Bill are. Bill grabbed everyone’s attention with his unexpected toast to his bride. One of our favorite parts of the toasts, which we included in the highlight film, was when Rachel’s mom she said, “we wish you everything… everything.” This was a parental wish coming true before everyone’s eyes. The partying continued as the country folk boogied to “Sweet Home Alabama” and Bill bringing everyone to their knees with “Shout.”

To our bride and groom:
How sweet it is to be loved by you! While it had been almost 2 years nothing had changed from the first time we met and hung out, to the big smiles and welcoming hugs from you and your family when we arrived on your wedding day. You made us feel so welcome and loved throughout the entire day. Thank you for trusting us with your “Once in a Lifetime Experience.” Now you know why we couldn’t use the Stevie song you originally wanted for your soundtrack. It was Keith Urban all the way. ..

We hope you, your family and friends enjoy your film as much as we did getting to know you. Let this film serve as a constant reminder of the wonderful spirit of your wedding day and the souls of who you are.

For those of you who don’t know Francie, at a young age she is already recognized as an accomplished and highly regarded wedding industry professional. She is a Senior Associate Planner for the renowned Tangorra Wedding Planning & Tangorra Events, editor of “Boston Hearts Weddings”, the hot new wedding blog, and now for our favorite part, she is wife and partner for life to a kind, thoughtful, sincere and amazing man, Greg.

Over the past year we have become close friends with Francie filming her incredible events, however our relationship Greg begin about a month ago when we got together to enjoy some Sushi at Jason’s second kitchen, Green Tea Restaurant in Newton (It is so important to us that everyone we work knows us and is comfortable around us. While we do not always have the pleasure of sitting down, as many of our clients are from out-of-town, a great conversation goes a long way. We believe that a feeling of comfort is a big part of the BWF experience).

We have had the pleasure of filming many weddings for industry mates. Typically their weddings seem to be a reflection of their work. For Francie, in some ways this was and wasn’t the case. The “WOW” didn’t come from a meticulously planned schedule, color pallet, or transformation of the room through hanging votives and floor to ceiling flower arrangements. It was Francie and Greg’s ability to take their guests on a heart-and-soul-felt journey that gave them their big splash. Francie has seen and produced so many wonderful events. She has a wonderful perspective on what matters most on a wedding day and lived it. It was the messages and personal touches in every nook of the estate that told their story including: lawn games, favorite drink menus on large chalkboards, brilliantly-creatively-fun food stations by Vinwood Caterers, serving all their favorite meals (lobster rolls, pub sliders, french fries in the box, and of course Ipswich fried clams, to name a few). We watched and joined in savoring their story with each bite.

The Wedding Day
So much for the 10 Day forecast Francie. We hate to say it, “but we told you so.” The weather couldn’t have been better (75º and not a cloud in the sky) and will most likely be the best of the season. We arrived in town where she had grown up to film some of the bridal prep and within no time were giving mom and our new good friend & amazing photographer, Will Tangorra hugs. After hanging out with the ladies our caravan made its way to Castle Hill. While we’ve been there several times before there is an overwhelming sense of awe as the estate comes into focus through the rolling hills.

Once we set up camp we went to find Greg and hang out with the men. Just like Francie he had the most wonderful sense of calmness. The best way to describe it is it as if this was a plan he had known for a long, long time and while that would make anyone behind a camera happy it does even more for us, as Francie is so dear to us.

It was a picture perfect ceremony situated on the lawns overlooking the rolling hills that wind down to the great deep blue ocean. Just breath-taking!!!! As guests took their seats the music began and the great doors opened. The wedding party made their way down the aisle to embrace Francie and Greg as they shared this holy union.

While the guests enjoyed cocktails, horderves and lawn games we snuck away with our newlyweds to film. This is one of the favorite parts of our shoots. While some clients spend more time, typically ten minutes is enough to get some wonderful and intimate footage. And while everywhere we looked was a photo-op we kept focused on our bride and groom and let the scenery fill in the background.

After filming some wonderful flowers and tablescapes by Lyndsey Loring, we joined in with the guests and band Kahootz to welcome in and celebrate with Francie & Greg. The party continued throughout the evening.

After we packed up our gear and got in our cars to begin our journey down the winding road that led us there, we made one last stop at the entrance where we first started to soak in the echoes of the music and glowing mansion lighting the evening sky.

We had already fallen in love with you and your story before we ever picked up a camera. And while we can’t put our finger on it this one was somewhat different. It was as though you were already married before the wedding (not that you were…) but you had already transformed to that place. Sometimes the feeling was surreal like we weren’t really there or we were just floating with you. Maybe it was because everything came so naturally.

We were honored to be chosen to have this opportunity to create this film for you and your family to enjoy for years to come and hope that it serves as a wonderful reminder to you of what matters most in life.

About The Making of this Highlight Film:

Jim and I decided to pull out all the BWF stops for this film. We had the rare pleasure of working together so that there were no limitations to our talents. This film was produced using a mix of Canon DSLRs (those amazing still cameras that happen to allow us film in HD with no additional on-camera lights), a dolly for the smooth sliding shots, and the Steadicam Merlin which allows us to make the camera seem like it is floating around you. In addition to the following film we also produced a wedding trailer (see our previous post). A wedding trailer is a wonderful option for you to share the excitement and drama of your wedding soon after your wedding while we work on completing your master film.

The weather forecast kept saying rain - but it was a beautiful day! And oh, what a beautiful place to be married, at the Crane Estate in Ipswich. Even with the wind blowing around us, Francie and Greg carried on with a sense of calmness and elegance. We became so excited in creating their film that we wanted to tease you with a trailer. Now we are REALLY excited to finish the film! Enjoy!

Blogging The Bride: Choosing The Dress

Continuing in our Blogging The Bride series (see the blog at Boston Hearts Weddings), here is one of our favorite little films. In this film we mix the storyline of the Nicole's childhood dream of finding the perfect dress along with the actual dress shopping experience! LeLite was wonderful in helping Nicole make her decision. While Nicole was pleased with their attentive customer service, she mostly enjoyed the personal space they allowed for her to select the perfect dress. We can't wait to see her come down the aisle!

To our bride and groom:

It seems like only yesterday when you came over and shared how excited you were about your week off to take care of all the wedding plans and that Jason Mraz concert that you were going to. From the look on his face it was obvious that John wanted nothing to with that event but loved you enough much to make such a sacrifice for his future bride. We knew then that he was a keeper. Luckily for both John and us you were not as moved as you thought you would be from the concert and we didn’t have to use one of his hits in your film…

The Wedding Day
Alaina’s wonderful mom and dad greeted us with open arms when we arrived for the bridal prep. The ladies were relishing every moment of the hair & make-up by Katrina Hess for a total beauty experience. It was great not being the only guy in the room for a change. Dad couldn’t have been happier and was a real trooper staying out of the way of all the ladies. We could tell this was a natural role for him with many years of practice (you can get a sense of his heartfelt joy through his toast in the highlight film). As a parent myself I can’t imagine a more wonderful feeling than knowing your children have found someone who loves and respects each other as much as Alaina & John do.

Arriving at The Gates of Heaven Parish was a like a scene straight out of the classic movie “Spinal Tap” when they searched endlessly for the stage door. We spent 20 minutes going door to door trying to find a way in. How ironic we thought, “So this is what it takes to get into the “Gates of Heaven.”

The doors opened and Alaina and her dad made their way down the isle. And that is when it hit me. While my camera was focused on John and all the incredible emotions as he saw his future wife for the first time, I couldn’t help but think about all the conversations, meetings and planning we had had and how they all came down to this very moment. For us this is the first of several reminders of how amazing it is that our clients trust us with something as wonderful and important as this. What an overwhelming honor. It is humbling.

The spirit of Boston continued as we boarded the trolleys headed for the Public Gardens. We had the pleasure of getting to know and working with Melissa & Rene Tirado of Tirado Photography who were kind enough to share their memory cards with us while our production assistant, “The All Mighty Sam” ran out to buy more. We can’t thank you enough for your generosity!

As we entered the ballroom we were mesmerized by the amazing table scapes and floral arrangements by Carolyn Valenti. We set up shop and began to work our magic capturing every detail. Our brides invest so much in the setting/décor, so we make sure through their film they can experience that wow over and over again.

Kahootz brought in our bride and groom to the irresistible, guilty pleasure tune from The Black Eyed Peas - “I Gotta Feeling” and morphed the ballroom into a world class party. The dancing and celebration carried throughout the evening.

While we have seen our fare share of photo booths, which are always great fun, Alaina & John took it to the next level, thanks to The Studio Noir (check out their photobooth pics here!)..

Alaina & John, we hope you enjoy your wedding film as much as we did getting to know you and your families. We hope that through this film you will sit down and relive this day for years to come. It has been an honor and privilege to work with and become friends with you. We look forward to hearing all about your journey!

A Marathon Week!

Wow, what amazing few days it has been for us and while we didn’t run the Marathon it sure felt like it…

All in one breath (or not)…
We shared some wedding films with our brides, had a private training session with industry legends, booked four weddings (including a rock star) and get this - one of them was for a wedding 3 days later at Our Lady of Victories and The Park Plaza.

To our bride and groom, Rhonda and Mark, we were so honored to film your wedding. We know for you having a film was not originally something you a placed a great deal of value on, planned or budget for (hence the three day notice!). You were not alone in those thoughts as you hadn’t seen anything to convince you otherwise. We are so glad you found us! We have to give a big shout out to the amazing Emilie from Pink Orchid Weddings (blog) for the introduction and opportunity to understand your thoughts and how we can produce something amazing for you. We know you are going to love your film and be so glad someone showed you something to help you rethink that decision.

NOW FOR THE WEDDING. Rhonda and Mark, all the time and thought you put into this was a big WOW in our book. From the incredible flowers from Blue Guava, the amazing DJ Kristin Korpos, brilliant lighting from Advanced Lighting & Production Services, a wonderful cake from Konditor Meister and an incredible sound installation (MJ Audio - A BIG thank you for all your help with getting amazing audio for their sound track). It is certain you gave your guests a night to remember. It was also wonderful working with photographer Joyelle West for the first time and to talk shop about our amazing, low light Canon DSLRs with her. It was a perfect setting for Boston Wedding Films to work its magic.

And while all of that is great we would be remised if we didn’t recognize how obvious it was that you truly respect and love each other and your families. My favorite part of the evening was getting a big hug from Rhonda and seeing how moved she was by all you put into this Mark. For someone who didn’t want video you certainly made us feel welcome. I can’t think of something more wonderful than making new friends. Thank for your trust.

BWF: How did you meet and or get engaged?

Nicole: After becoming friends, a relationship soon followed. It was perfect timing in both our lives to become a family…so on my 29^th birthday, Chris proposed, and made me a happy girl!

BWF: What makes you a great couple?

Nicole: Well with his brains, and my looks it’s pretty self explanatory..hahaha!!! But seriously, we balance each other out pretty well, and keep each other laughing (most of the time :) Respect is also very important to both of us.

BWF: Why did you choose this location to get married (why is it special to you)?

Nicole: Gorgeous hotel, and it’s where we got engaged. They have been nothing but accommodating, and it’s a dream come true.

BWF: What are you most looking forward to about your wedding day?

Nicole: Having those doors open and seeing each other for the first time in the church. Just as importantly, celebrating with all our family and friends

BWF: How were you introduced to Boston Wedding Films?

Nicole: Word of mouth, and after seeing their work, it was a done deal!

BWF: Why is a wedding film important to you?

Nicole: After everything is said and done, it’s the video, and pictures that allow you relive all the wonderful moments that you may or may not have seen

Nicole: Incredible work, and made us feel extremely comfortable!! You make it all about your clients, and make them feel like they are the only one’s you’re giving your attention to.

BWF: What are you most excited about with your wedding film?

Nicole: Being able to see everyone hopefully having the best time, and as mentioned before, reliving what is hoped to be one of our happiest days!!

"Yes, yes-we do!!!"

No, not a group marriage proposal – just our response to being asked to film one of the brightest stars in the Boston area wedding business. She is not only a senior planner with the amazing Tangorra Wedding Team but also the wizard behind the curtain at Boston Hearts Weddings (bostonheartsweddings.com). In other words she really knows all about weddings so when we were chosen to produce her wedding film it was a big “Yes” for us!!!!

A bit about her and Greg

They actually went to High School together, but according to them they aren’t High School sweethearts... They reconnected during college, the summer before her junior year, just weeks before she was about to move to London for a semester abroad. Greg came to visit her partway through the semester, and that’s when she knew… and now almost 7 years later they will walk down the isle. BWF pops the big question - will Maisy-their dog bought out of wed-lock will be escorting them?

The Crane Estate-the obvious choice

“We both grew up in Ipswich I think every girl that grows up in Ipswich dreams of getting married at the Estate. It’s so beautiful! Also, the beginnings of our relationship were spent at Crane Beach and at the super fun summer concerts that the Estate holds on the back lawn. Not to mention the fact that I worked there during college, my mom is working there right now, my grandfather worked there for many years, as did my dad and brother… so there’s some history there for sure!”

BWF: What are you most looking forward to about your wedding day?

Francie: Gosh, so many things! I guess I’m most excited to bring together so many family and friends who have never been at the same place at the same time before. Also, there are many of Greg’s family members whom I haven’t met yet, so I’m excited to spend some time with them. Also, I have a pretty killer outfit to wear!

BWF: How were you introduced to Boston Wedding Films?

Francie: As a wedding planner, I’ve had the pleasure of working with Jason many times, so first off, I chose BWF to film my wedding because he has become such a great friend and co-worker. Also, I’ve seen them in action! I know that they will be an amazing part of my wedding day team, and I cannot wait to see the film!

BWF Why is a wedding film important to you?

Francie: When a wedding film is done right, it can be such a wonderful keepsake and compliment to your wedding photos. Having my vows (and the party!) on film will be such a wonderful thing for me and my family members to be able to go back and watch again and again.

BWF: As a planner and Bride what advice can you share with future brides?

Francie: The biggest piece of advice I can share is to hire vendors that you truly love! When you build a wedding day team that you enjoy working with, it makes everything so much easier and smoother on the day of. The people you hire that you love will love you back and will do their best work on your wedding day!

Boston Wedding Films Announcement: Sarah and Steve

BWF is sooo excited to be filming Sarah and Steve's wedding on August 14th, 2010!
Sarah and Steve have chosen Chatham Bars Inn on Cape Cod in Massachusetts to host all of their friends and family at their rehersal dinner!

The wedding will be taking place at the stunning Wequassett Inn on Cape Cod. We will also be working with "Best of Boston" wedding photographer Corinne Schippert! Sarah and Steve are very happy to have her working with them! And of course, wedding videography by Boston Wedding Films. All of this is being carefully planned by Tasha & Stephanie, one of our newest friends at SD Events!

Boston Wedding Films Announcement: Tatyana & Vladimir

Tatyana & Vladimir met in 1999 and have been together ever since. They are soo adorable; full of life and love.

The Birth of Boston Wedding Films Blog!

Welcome to the birth of the Boston Wedding Films Blog. Isn't it funny that a company that has been filming in High Definition for 6 seasons is just getting a blog out there…

If you asked me ten years ago if I would be filming weddings the answer would have been no... but then the world as we knew it changed on 911. I can remember it as if it was yesterday. My bride and I were expecting our first child. I couldn't help but think, "how could we bring child into this world?" It was on that very weekend that I got a call to help film someone’s wedding - a stranger. This person needed my help, how I could say no?

So I rigged up my camera, suited up in my wedding tux and headed out for what was to become the beginning of a wonderful journey. Destiny, fate, or choice, not sure and don’t really care, but so glad it happened!

I didn’t know anything about this couple when I pressed record, by the time I had changed tapes I realized that something else had changed- I was smiling, moved, maybe even shed a tear or two. That feeling became more obvious as the night went on. In that moment in time nothing else mattered. These two strangers seemed like old friends. My biggest concern was wondering if it would be ok if I hugged them, or should I just shake hands at the end of the night.

Why am I sharing this with you? Because for us documenting your wedding is more than an honor. It is reminder of what matters in life. It keeps us grounded and gives us hope. We are forever grateful to have the pleasure of doing this not just for you but for your kids and grandkids (if anyone has footage from grandparent’s wedding let me know, it would be priceless -well, of course we do have a budget).
